Streetwear size guide: how to choose between regular, oversize, and boxy fits

The question we get asked most often: "I usually wear an M, what should I get?". The answer depends entirely on the fit. An M in a regular fit and an M in a boxy fit do not drape the same way at all.

The three fits, in concrete terms

The regular fit

This is the standard. The shoulder seam hits at the shoulder bone, the sleeve ends at the mid-bicep, and the body follows your silhouette without being tight. If you choose your usual size, you can't go wrong.

This is the fit of our classic graphic t-shirts and the Crystal tie-dye t-shirt.

The oversize fit

The shoulder drops intentionally below the joint, the body is wider, and the length is often more generous. The garment is meant to hang loosely.

Common mistake: sizing up twice to "make it look more oversize." The garment is already cut wide. Take your usual size, or just one size up if you really want extra volume.

The boxy fit

This is the most misunderstood. A boxy t-shirt is wider and shorter than a classic t-shirt: the width increases while the length decreases. It often ends right at the waistband of your trousers.

If you don't like showing a bit of your waist when you raise your arms, go one size up: you'll primarily gain length.

How to measure correctly

Forget the measuring tape around your chest. The most reliable method:

1. Take a t-shirt you like to wear, one that fits you well.
2. Lay it flat, without stretching it.
3. Measure from one armpit seam to the other: this is the chest width.
4. Measure from the top of the shoulder to the hem: this is the length.

Compare these two numbers to our size guide. All our measurements are taken flat, in centimeters.

Does heavy cotton shrink?

Our garment-dyed cotton t-shirts are pre-shrunk: expect less than 5% shrinkage after washing if you follow the instructions (cold wash, gentle drying). It's not enough to change your size.

However, repeated hot washing will cause the cotton to shrink. This is the primary cause of a garment becoming too small.

When in doubt

Go for the size above. Our cuts are intentionally relaxed, and a slightly loose garment wears better than a tight one.
